a florist with too many secrets. eliza tapped the counter, business was slow today which was unusual. multiple times people would come in to buy her bouquets which she arranged herself lovingly. in the beginning she originally opened this shop to spread positive feelings, or rather positive thoughts. however, things have changed and she really doesn't care anymore.
who cares about flowers and why is she still doing this business? she would be better off being part of the military, doing something useful with her time and gathering intel on the whole ordeal. the resistance would have a better advantage...but she couldn't possibly leave her little shop.

the bell on the door chimes as ciaran pushes it open, black hair wet from the shower and military uniform exchanged for civilian clothing. of all things he had once expected eliza, fiery, wild eliza to go into, selling flowers wasn't one of them. but he's here now anyway, holding a worn sketchbook and pencils that are more nubs than anything, a small, beaten up stool in his other hand.
"afternoon, 'liza," he says, voice soft as ever and smile gentle. it's one of the few remaining things that tie them together, this routine. he doesn't know if the others have noticed it-- they're all busy with their lives and their problems, but ciaran's always been the observant one-- but she's...different. angrier. "i was hoping to buy something to keep my father's room looking a little more lively." it's a tradition years in the making; ciaran's always bought the bouquets that he draws. it doesn't feel right not to.

"oh, hello ciaran! what are you doing here?" eliza wasn't going to lie, she was happy someone was here besides her flowers to keep her company even if it's temporary. a grin started working up on her face, trying to hide it she turned more than halfway to look at the wall. to be frank she hated the fact that ciaran was working for the military with those ghastly magicians. she wonders why, but never did ask him.
unperturbed she listened as he explained his reason for visiting. "ah, flowers for your dad? how quaint." she replied, and began to mull over what kind of flowers would suit for his father. "anything in particular?" she almost sighed out loud as she stared at him. "is he doing well ciaran?"
she remembered right then how ciaran seemed to have inner struggles, though everyone had them she didn't care for them at all. she at least is considerate of him though she doesn't understand why, perhaps the bond they had as children? it would only get in the way as a resistance leader, she couldn't mull on such matters. ignoring such thoughts she smiled at him in a placate manner.

"maybe lilacs or pansies...all these years, and i still don't know much about flowers," ciaran laughs and rubs the back of his head. "just something bright, i guess."
when she inquires after his father the smile drops for a brief moment-- but then it's back again, muted. "he's...stable." ciaran's posture is stiff, voice strained. "i had him moved to a better room-- if i get that promotion i'll go buy more medicine..." he trails off, blue eyes glancing back to eliza. there's more on the tip of his tongue, confessions to make to a former confidante-- but he hesitates. "but enough about that. how are you doing? is the shop alright?"
"i should have brought a snack for you," he sighs, leaning against the counter. "i made a pan of brownies, yesterday."

"silly." replied eliza as she went around the counter to go to the back where most of the flowers were. she had set a greenhouse specifically for them and had artificial sunlight to help them grow. however, she stopped when she heard his voice speak once again, talking about his father. eliza isn't necessarily heartless when it came to a man she came to almost respecting.
as soon as he finished she gave him a small smile, "yes, i'm doing fine." lies were getting easier to slip through her lips. "the shop is ok." she almost wanted to laugh when she ciaran had brought her something, she almost scoffed. she scurried back to the counter and snatched it. "you know, i don't understand why your not starting a bakery. oh, and you can have the flowers for free, tell your father i said hello."
without him noticing she had already a bouquet ready underneath the counter, she always made one special bouquet each day for one special customer to have. "you should go."
