Lots of people hate the king, but what's to say about that? Even Chevalier has a sour spot residing in him for Myron. But he's also been good to him...

judah doesn't think it merciful or fortunate he's been taken in by the king. a cage is a cage, no matter how gilded. a vampire is still a parasite, filth, no matter how beautiful.
he doesn't hesitate before he nods.
the king tells judah no harm will come to him, and perhaps he'd like to see if this is true.

he cocks his head, not entirely sure he believes chevalier's words. he doesn't trust a vampire, he doesn't trust anyone (soon, the king will teach judah to not even trust himself).
judah considers the question, glancing over his shoulder at the sliver of light in the window. he points upward. the only thing - his freedom.

he doesn't trust him, it is probably a joke, a trap. but he sees a chance and he'll take it, he'll fight tooth and claw if there's any way the man can get him even a modicum closer to his freedom. and judah can't see things getting any worse if he fails.

he knows good and well that the boy's gonna eventually get caught, brought back, but once he's out, the boy is no longer his concern. It's not his fault if he's caught again.
