Paper crumples in hand, crush by a clenching fist. The first titters bubble up then grew to something louder, something choking and ugly. It’s too late once it’s started, and he knows not how to stop himself. Too funny the article he’s read in the paper, too farfetched and overreaching. Jonah regrets reading it in public.
The ugly sound of his laughter brings a hush through the café, earning him curious glances from fellow patrons. He tries to breath in hopes to quiet the howls of ironic glee. But it only worsens the matter, brings more attention to himself.
Blue in the face, he’s unable to control his awful, disgusting laughter.

She likes taking breaks like these. Especially when it's in a nice, peaceful café, with a drink in her hand and the nice atmosphere. She could stay here all day if she could, but she couldn't (and she's really quite sad about it).
And then this ugly hacking sound and she swears someone is choking from across the room. She abandons her drink - because at this point human life is much more important than physical, worldly things. She managed to identify the body currently choking (that sound had to be choking, right?), and she rushes over as fast as she can.
This was the least she can do. She thinks - what to do in a situation like this - and she thinks back on that one chart in the doctor's office that she's seen before. She's supposed to go behind him and... try to make sure that the thing lodged in his throat can get out. And so she does just that - takes hold on him from behind and it kind of feels like she's humping him in the worst possible fashion.
But all with the good intention of making sure he doesn't die right there on the spot.

From behind thin arms coil the circumference of his midriff. A squeeze, movement from behind, jerks him to the present. The last echo of choking laughter transitions to a sharp release of air, an “oof”. And though his laughter’s stopped, the motion of the body attempting the Heimlich keeps going.
“Would you mind stopping?” He manages to ask between thrust of hands and the brush of hips against his behind. “I’m fine.”

It's not funny anymore.
Not that it was ever funny. As soon as Giselle realized... well, it took her a good five seconds on continual hip thrusting before the words finally registered. A good five seconds to register the fact that he was speaking and there was nothing lodged in his throat.
She jerks away from him in mortification, dread filling her entire being. Oh dear... She had literally just... started to oddly hump him. She couldn't talk for a minute, kind of frozen solid after jumping away in a panic. People saw that. But...
But what was that, if he wasn't choking?
