Guarded are the wallets of myriad commoners in the outer ring. Pennies pinched at every turn, not a dime to spare for an orphan. He’s struggling to live day-to-day like everyone else (worse as far as he’s concerned). Not a single person willingly parts with their precious wallet, and too observant they are for pickpockets. But Riley has an idea stirring in that devious little brain of his.
His target’s a girl of fair hair and glowing completion, a smidge taller than him but short enough that on tiptoes he can reach. And he can. A kiss he swiftly steal with guile and eyes on the wallet he glimpsed her tuck away in her purse.

It wasn't often ice cream could be purchased, and it wasn't often that she had the chance to do so. Saturdays were a rare and free day to be out and about. In one arm she had her basket of fruit, bread, and cheese for dinner. In the other, carefully held, was her cross-body purse. Belle was very happily eating her ice cream when someone quickly approached her.
It all happened so fast. One minute she was about to take a lick of the ice cream, and the next there was a young man in front of her, no more than twenty summers. Belle paused as she saw him start to come towards her, lean forward towards her, and she took a startled step back. "Uh--" And then he was there, face against her's. Belle stood in shock as some complete stranger leaned in and kissed her. She felt ice cream drip on her hand, cold and wet, and just wondered what in the world she had stepped into. When she had purchased this ice cream she hadn't assumed it would lead to free kisses.
