she prefers to take on the guise of a guy. it’s much simpler that way, honestly. in the orphanage she had long hair and they called her that godforsaken name, and they teased her for being boyish and they told her she couldn’t be powerful because she was - hell - a girl. well she really told them, after breaking his pinky finger and the other kid’s nose. [break][break]
she never saw those kids again, and well, serves them right. as an apprentice she was taught a great many of things, her mentor was very kind to her. he taught her a plethora of languages, of magic, of djinn, and of the pleasures of the flesh. he praised her - for she was talented, had ‘lots of potential’, and she grew to dread the ‘after’ of her lessons. and she was talented - beyond her years (he said) - though he was not much older than her, perhaps double her age. [break][break]
royce was the name she had chosen for herself. half because she was sick of this whole ‘girl’ thing and half because she thought it would be funny. and it was funny, after she convinced pretty much anyone who met her that she was a guy. it was better this way, because then they wouldn’t take advantage of her, and she wouldn’t have to resort to breaking fingers and noses (though she won’t lie, the satisfying crunch beneath her knuckles makes her all too happy).[break][break]
she wants nothing more than to see fire and blood beneath her, sitting upon a throne happily seeing them all burn. she understand she is a product of this world, of this society, but she aims to rule it, to be on top. and she saw herself to be in the prime time - of the new generation, as the old magicians were dying out and the new came to rule. perhaps she had overestimated herself, her power, her so called ‘potential’.[break][break]
she summoned ishtar first, a god of legend, and she was lucky that the djinn had been merciful. they struck a pact - ishtar loved the human world, and royce loved her life. ishtar would protect her as long as she could stay in the human world. suited her just fine. having a powerful djinn as an ally was all fine, especially against other djinn she summoned.

royce is not kind to her djinn, but she is not overly cruel to them, either. as long as they do her bidding, they’re always loyal to her, won’t kill her or wreck unnecessary havoc, and can be summoned at a moment’s notice, they are free to do as they please. relatively. her contracts are cruel and precise, after the first harrowing attempt on her. she gives most djinns leeway, though - because she can afford leeway. ishtar is always there to protect her. [break][break]
she likes to cause a mess of things, create chaos with her magic - ripping apart things, slow and long-drawn out punishments and spells are her favorites. entropy is her passion, her lust.
