Previously the largest public park in Paris, the Bois de Vincennes is now the easternmost barricade of the city. The Army excursion corps uses the park as a training ground. Monsters captured from the Badlands beyond are kept in the park's old zoo and set upon recruits during combat practice.

Located to the west and outside city walls proper, the Palace of Versailles has been made a restricted zone under the Parisian Protectorate. Only high-ranking magicians have authorization. The Prime Minister makes his official residence here and occasionally convenes the magicians at Versailles for large meetings, parties, events. Soldiers are garrisoned at Versailles to protect Paris's western border.
