[attr="class","infop"]Fifty years ago, an unexplainable rift opened between Earth and the Other Place, an apocalyptic event now known simply as the Rift. The rift pulled a massive number of spirits from the Other Place into our world without a summons. Where they flooded the globe, destruction and chaos followed in their wake. Hordes of nightmarish creatures terrorized the population; the most powerful and gigantic spirits spawned natural disasters where they appeared, rent the earth asunder and boiled seas.[break][break]
Hell unleashed, the foretold Apocalypse—only the world did not end. After a week, the rift closed as it had opened, stranding spirits and leaving humanity to deal with these new demons.[break][break]
Magicians, the only ones with knowledge of the Other Place entities, naturally emerged from their shadowy roles as puppet masters and secret societies to recreate the world's governments. Forced to reveal the reality of magic but not its source, they tasked themselves with governing the remnants of humanity.[break][break]
The scene now is Paris, year 20XX. Tension runs high between its human and nonhuman groups, fear even higher. There's something brewing on the horizon, ever-bleak.
