her mentor magician, the stupid old man has sent her on a list of errands, like a dog to be ordered around. useless, useless. she has no time for trivial errands, and she has better things to do then worry about picking up her mentor's clothes or getting the groceries for the week. maria rolls her brown eyes as she crumples up the list and stuffs it in her pocket.
when she enters the next building, she expects the tailor and her assistants scurrying around, but instead with the ring of a small bell her eyes meet gleaming walls and pristine desks. everything is sparkling, everything shimmers with light. nose wrinkling with the smell of money, she makes motions to turn around before anybody notices her.

Oh, but she is noticed. Sauntering hips, a flick of his hand through those white strands. they shimmer in the fluorescent light.
"can i help you?" he asks, his hands resting on his hips as he looks the girl over.
she seems alright, not at all a commoner.

a flicker of distaste ripples through her features before it disappears. "no, thank you," maria whispers, almost too soft to be heard, shoulders hunched, black locks falling into her eyes.
"i didn't mean to wander in here, i was looking for the tailor, you see." she flashes the flamboyant man a bland smile. "i'm sorry to interrupt. i'm sure you're busy."

he smirks. "the tailor?" he asks, perking a pale brow high. "how does anyone confuse a treasurer's office with a tailor?"
the albino cackles in honest amusement. "are you stupid?"

maria bristles, tries to push down the annoyance as much as possible. she does not like this man calling her stupid. in fact, she does not like anyone calling her stupid. she's brilliant, isn't she?
her shoulders stiffen. "maybe if you put any sort of sign around here, people wouldn't be confused." she sniffs. "i'll have to take back my words, i'm not wasting your time after all, but it seems like you're wasting mine."
arms crossed, chin high.

how cute. she's trying to be cocky. kris' eyebrow quirks again as he looks at her. "anyone with common sense would know the difference just by looking at the building!"

her cheeks flush, and she clenches her teeth, determined not to show her annoyance. all she wanted to do was finish her errand and get back home, but of course she had to be stopped.
"who do you even think you are, questioning a girl about what she's doing?" maria replies, as coolly as she possibly can in the heat of the moment. she needs this little conversation to be over, because she is rapidly losing what little patience she has left.

"You think asking you a question as to why you're loitering in a government building is offensive to your gender?" he asks, not at all impressed.
He looks her over, sneering at her appearance. "I'm the treasurer. That's who I am. Who are you?"
