yin is a big fan of puzzles. whoever says so otherwise is a big fat liar who deserves to be sapped of blood. there are plenty of other strigoi in need, after all! yin remembers them crawling and writhing like snapped off branches of an old willow tree. dead.
yes, yin is a big fan of puzzles. jigsaws leave her tired, riddles leave her angry, mysteries leave her furious. the only puzzle left she likes, she thinks, thinking of the texture of the human tongue as she wills more half alive half dead ants to crawl in and implode(!) skin from within; yes. everything about humans are charming as they are deceptive. awfully intuitive creatures who are just so plain stupid.
ants crawl from all corners of the open room, their bodies forming some kind of thick void, illuminated even by the dim lights hanging overhead.

there's a painting that hangs on her wall that she received from some old strigoi in exchange for a pretty young glass of water she retrieved for him. it's an oil painting of a beautiful and thick hedge maze. it reminds her of the catacombs and sewers. the passage ways are thin and winding.
the difference is: one is a puzzle, and one is not.
the hedge maze is of grass, and of ferns. gritting her teeth, lili could slip right through the walls and emerge with only a few scratches. and that's the way she likes it. oh, how she wishes the catacombs were the same.
but the walls are hard and stiff. there's no gritting-your-teeth to get through. there's concrete yes and no.
she doesn't like "yes" and "no;" she doesn't like boundaries.
liliuokalani looks on the body on the ground, hardly shocked as she enters the cavern. "poor boy...girl? i can't tell," she laughs nervously.

in one clean, sharp movement, yin turns her head at the human; all frowns and all teeth. after all, she can't get mad at fair skin and shiny hair for long. and a strong, beating, heart.
at a wave of her hand the ants retreat, crawling back into dirt, sinking out of sight. her eyes don't leave the girl's, but her fingers pull at her hair. she bites her lip, draws blood that's not quite blood. it drips; she licks herself clean. yin watches the girl. yin rubs her finger against her healed lip.
"who are you?" comes a mumbled, accusing question. scratching at her head violently, she wonders why a livestock is running around unsupervised.
