Rowan had brought some money with him. It was a well-earned break from the run of the mill circus performances, and since this was Paris, he wanted to explore a bit. He wasn't exactly sure how to get around to going to the nice places (goodness, no one had actually given him a map or wanted to help him, it seemed). As far as these people knew, he wasn't a magician. He was, but he wasn't exactly sure how to act like one seeing as he looked like any other circus performer.
Except, you know, looking a bit shady with his 'normal' attire. He'd been walking around for some time now, perusing the shops. There were not many souvenir shops, surprisingly, but he just assumed he'd gone to the wrong neighborhood.
After a while he got a bit thirsty. He looked up and down and left and right for something - anything - to drink. Nothing. Now, his mouth was feeling quite parched and he couldn't stop thinking about it. His throat was feeling dry, and he thickly swallowed. It wasn't as though he didn't have the means to get one - there was just nothing.
He managed to get into some hallway or complex or whatever the hell this was. On the side tucked to a corner was a vending machine. He swore he had found heaven in that simple little box, and he quickly selected the thing he wanted to drink, punching in the buttons, putting in the coins.
He could almost taste it - the sweet nectar of ~liquid~ down his throat, finally having the relief he craved. And then...
What was that? He saw the machine move and the bottle moving forward and then... he stared at it incredulously for a second. And then, in a flash of anger, he kicked the thing. It didn't move. He stared again, this time with a look of mourning on his face. He wanted his drink. He wanted it so badly, he was willing to do crazy, crazy things for it.
And with little regret he stuck his hand into the little opening and tried to get his drink. God, his arm hurt as it twisted and writhed and he could see his arm reaching for his drink. Thank god - he had managed to get it, basically sprawled on the floor with his arm up the vending machine like some petty thief. He managed to graze the bottle and it fell down to where he was supposed to grab it.
Rowan was pretty flexible. But there came a limit and when he tried to yank his arm out, he yelled a string of profanities because it still hurt, and he bit back tears as he tried to coax his arm out. Unfortunately, it didn't budge. A frustrated half-sigh half-groan escaped him. "Fuck me..."
Of all things, this had to happen. He didn't deserve this, he really didn't.

It had been one of those days that Nova allowed herself a day off from work. She wouldn't have to worry about customers or workers or complaints. No, it was just about her today. She could spend the entire day relaxing and lounging around in her home if she so desired. Perhaps she could even go around doing god-knows-what wherever she pleased because it was her day off. Today was not about work.
And it was driving her absolutely crazy.
As someone who was used to working almost every single day (unless she was horribly sick), not working just made her... well, it made her restless and she kept pacing back and forth. So to expend some of this energy, she went out for a walk. Maybe if she did some window shopping of some sort, it would help with the need to work.
So there she was, just minding her business and staring through a window when she saw something funny in the reflection of the glass. There was a man on the floor in front of a vending machine as if trying to steal the contents of it. She turned around and looked at him properly, her confusion mimicking that of the other passersby that caught sight of him. However, none approached him and Nova had a good mind not to either, but when he started to curse, she grew more curious.
Was his arm stuck?
Drawing closer to him, she bit down on her lip. She wasn't sure whether she should laugh at this man's foolishness or feel sorry for the poor dear. Surely it wouldn't be too kind to laugh at someone's misfortune, but it was just so odd to see someone have their arm stuck in a vending machine of all things. So instead of laughing, she put on a smile as she stopped right next to him.
"Um, are you alright there? You seem to be... a bit stuck. Do you need some help or something?"

He swore it wasn't what it looked like.
Rowan knew this was a compromising position he'd put himself in. But in his desperation it sounded like a good idea. Besides - he wasn't breaking any rules. He had paid for it. He really did. It didn't look like he paid for anything, but the bill he had put in there didn't come back. The drink was there. All he had to do was take it, open it, and drink it. If only his stupid arm weren't stuck in his conquest.
As people passed and his burning shame continued, he could only wish for some help. Maybe suddenly his arm would pop back out. That would be a nice little gift from above. Stupid... vending machines. There was no way he was going to trust one again. Never, not in a million years!
A flicker of hope when a voice offered him help. He managed to glance behind him. Barely. He could make out a silhouette but it hurt to strain anymore to get a glimpse. He resigned - and that hope disappeared and was replaced by... what... embarrassment? Caught in a compromising position and his only option was to pretend like nothing was wrong? Oh, he felt redness swell to his cheeks as he mumbled out a feeble "yes" in response to her question.
"I swear, it's not what it looks like." The words were uttered under his breath, and although he had meant to tell her that, his absolute mortification at this situation was starting to get the best of him.
