The entity now known as Nasir has been playing a role in earth's history for roughly five centuries, acting as a agent of both benevolence and malice. He has watched the rise and fall of empires, witnessed the shrinking of the globe through colonization, and prospered from the advancements in technology. Yet nothing can ever compare to the time he spent in the ancient world. The Egyptians were still new to magic, learning its intricacies when they first began pulling entities from the Other Place. The ones they could control were manipulated into doing their bidding and the ones that could not be controlled were worshiped as gods.[break][break]
Things were simpler then. Better. [break][break]
The Greeks and Romans made for a suitable replacement when Egypt fell, but as humanity's understanding of the world expanded life grew tougher. Such dramatic displays of magic were met with violence rather than fear. Their technology almost replacing the need for magic all together. At some point, Nasir was bound to the human plane by a magician that could not fully control his power. In a fit of rage Nasir slaughtered the magician but was unable to undo the binding. As an "uncontracted" spirit he was hunted as a demon by the steadily evolving magicians for centuries, forcing him to hide among humans for the sake of simplicity.[break][break]
When the Rift opened Nasir thought he had finally found a way to return to his true home. Unfortunately, his attempts were thwarted by both demons and magicians alike. Now he is searching for a way to reopen the Rift or breaking his binding in the hopes of returning home once and for all.

His magic generally takes the form of tiny black particles, or "black sand," that he can create and control at will. He can also transform parts of his body or he entire being into this "black sand" to augment his physical abilities such as strength and endurance. As a djinni he is also able to alter his physical form or render himself invisible.
