A livestock has taken his king away from him? A mere human? Granted, once upon a time so was he, but Chevalier left that life behind a long time ago. He's made peace with his path and now that he's gotten comfortable, some little human steps in.
He has to see what's so special about this person. What's gotten the king so smitten?
The hallways are long, but soon he reaches the chambers the boy is kept in. The blonde steps inside, blue eyes full of hatred as he spots the boy
"So, you're the one Myron has taken in as his little pet?"

judah starts slightly when he notices the man, lingering just inside the doorway. he's been here a few days, the heart of the king's underground palace. the hallways are veins clotted with guards - nobody goes in or out without the king knowing.
he turns to face the man. he's tall, fair, handsome. he's not human - naturally, judah doesn't trust him, and he takes a wary step back, tense and coiled.

Once inside, Chevalier walks closer, slowly. He reaches out to lift the little human's face by the chin, "I want to get a better look at you."
His hands are soft and he's gentle with his face as he tilts it from side-to-side, examining this so called pet.
The boy's eyes are pretty, his skin pale, his frame rather small. "Why are you here?" He asks, eyes locking onto the other's gaze. "Why are you in my home?"

judah's lip curls - he keeps stepping back until he's almost against the wall, and there's nowhere to go but closer. he takes his face, gently, examines him in an echo of the king's appraisal. judah is only a child, dwarfed and outmatched, but he still tries to jerk from his hold. his eyes are those of a wild animal, feral and bright with youth, not yet domesticated.
the man is speaking, but judah can't recognize the words, made foreign by fear.

Just a child. What does Myron want with a little, human child? It doesn't make any sense at all. "Myron is sick," he frowns, letting the human's face go. "You're so scared."
He thinks back to when he was as young as this child, difficult to recall the fuzzy memories of what it was like to be human that far back, but he definitely wasn't as young as this child is when he first met a strigoi.
"Why don't you speak to me?"

his palms are pressed against the wall, his hands curl, his fingertips ache from the friction. the nails are ragged and bitten to the quick. judah relaxes slightly. he struggled harder than he had to - the man releases him easily.
they are so close. judah can almost feel the rise and fall of the man's chest, can see the cloud behind his eyes as he seems to distance himself, for a moment, from the room and where they stand. then his eyes focus again on judah. they are so close, but his voice is a murmur, faraway, like trying to decipher the wind in the mountains.
he meets chevalier's gaze blankly.

He frowns when the boy still says nothing, though at this point he figures there must be something wrong. "Can you not speak?" He asks, pointing at the boy's mouth. He touches his lips, feels them curiously, then pulls his hand away.
"Can you not hear?" Next, he feels his ears, reaching out to touch the shell, to see how the child will react. "Surely you're not stupid. I imagine the king is far more particular than that."

his fingers graze judah's lips, then he pulls back before he can bite. probably for the better. he doesn't respond - judah can speak, but he won't. it's strange not to hear himself properly.
judah is still, unflinching when he touches the shell of his ear. for a moment, he doesn't react. he doesn't want to be cooperative. he wants this man to know he's more than a frightened child, than a pet to be trained.
but he nods.
maybe he'll give up and leave.

That's it, then. "Perhaps the king felt sorry for you," he stated as he watched this creature stare at him. "Perhaps it's easy to get away with things when your pet can't communicate," he murmurs.
There's something wrong about this whole thing and Chevalier doesn't like it. Not even a little bit. Perhaps he's jealous, though he isn't entirely sure, but it gnaws at him. "I want to be able to talk to you," He speaks a bit slower. Maybe that'll help?

his eyes are warm, his hands soft. but judah still has no idea who he is. he's still backed up against the wall with a forest fire in his eyes, silent and snarling. there is pity in his eyes and the sight of it sets something ablaze in judah's chest, tightening painfully.
he's talking, and judah isn't understanding - he shakes his head. he shouldn't want to listen, but he god he does.

"My name is Chevalier," he states, trying to get a hold of the boy's attention. "Understand?" If the boy can't hear, surely he can feel.
The strigoi takes Judah's hand and presses it to his own chest, right in the center where his voice vibrates against his sternum. "Can you feel my voice?" He speaks, blue eyes so warm, yet incredibly determined. "I said my name is Chevalier."
He quickly thinks of something else.
"Can you read?"

he reaches out and judah jerks away, but not quickly enough. finger linked, he feels the hum of chevalier's voice in his chest.
judah nods, but the name means little to him. he knows the man is a vampire, undead and thirsty and dangerous as the rest. he doesn't expect to make friends here. but he seems insistent to give judah some kind of message.
at the question, he bits his lip. rudimentarily. not as well as he should, if his expression says anything.

"Damn," he curses as he glances to the side, trying to figure all of this out. "But, you seem to be understanding this."
Chevalier smiles an honest smile of joy, but his teeth bare as he does, so pointed and dangerous in their appearance. He doesn't realize, but he always seems to forget. "We'll learn how to communicate. I want to know why Myron is so taken with you. Although... It's probably because of what I said. You can't communicate. You can't read.. I assume you can't write?"

he draws back as soon as he's able. judah doesn't trust anyone here, the man baring his teeth, mumbling something judah assumes to be threatening. he seems unsatisfied, though not quite angry.
again, he shakes his head, eyes narrowed - he can't write much more than his name. judah doesn't quite understand why he's been chosen either, why he hasn't been drained and left for dead. maybe that would have been more merciful.

"Hey, it's okay..." He looks at the other, watching Judah as he pulls away. Chevalier lets him. He tries to smile again, to calm the boy down. Though, this time, it's softer and less toothy. He smiles with his eyes, tilts his head to the side. Chevalier wants to befriend this boy and by doing so, perhaps it'll bring him closer to Myron.
"Do you hate the king?" He can't help but ask, mouthing his words to hopefully be clearly understood.
