He named her Aria for the way she sang. The magician who first summoned her was old, feeble, and slowly dying from a disease that had no cure. He had no relatives to speak of, only a few friends, including a former apprentice. The rift had caused so many problems, so much pain, and so much destruction. He wanted protection, to live in peace for whatever small time he had left, and he wanted companionship, so that he wouldn't die alone. It's hard to be angry at a lonely man's dying wish, and that's how Aria found herself in the realm of humans. For two weeks she stayed in the small shack the man lived in, making him as comfortable as she could. He had hoped she would have the ability to heal, but her fingertips could not offer any relief from the pain he felt. They entered into a contract where she would stay until she was no longer needed.
[break][break]
Her contract specifically said until she was no longer needed, and Aria naively thought it would be null and void after the death of this old magician. A few days before he died, the magician sent for his old apprentice, and transferred the contract from himself to the young man. "He needs you" was all he said, and she could feel the magic change as she went from one magician to another. Dammit. Trapped in a new contract, and with a new person who didn't look like he was anywhere near death.

Aria found herself with a new stranger and rather frustrated at being tricked over simple words. After her first master's death and her transfer to the new one, Aria found herself in a world where most everything is confusing, political, and full of tension. Her magician, a politician for the state, now uses Aria for protection among other odds and ends. For the past year he has put Aria through some of the best training money can buy when it comes to world history, maths, sciences, and learning about the new world around her. Despite having some frustration and resentment towards her old master, Aria's found a curiosity for the human race, and for the other Djinn that she's seen flitting here and there. Aria's struggled with adjustment, and gets flustered over things she doesn't understand, but her anger has started to soften to acceptance that she's going to be in this world until "she's no longer needed". Aria is very protective over her magician because she's uncertain what will happen now if he does die suddenly and doesn't pass her contract to someone else or release her. Generally Aria is easy going with a heavy hand of sarcasm and curiosity for the world around her, and a bit more wary of things she doesn’t understand. She’s friendly and constantly looking out for people who can help or who might hurt her magician.

Aria’s power lies in the elemental realm of storms and lightning. Lightning is her forte, where she naturally generates an electric charge. (Static shock happens a lot). Electricity is forged from her hands or feet, and is bent to her will. Storms generally appear as a by-product from the use of her lightning or if her mood is dark. Storms take a lot of energy to summon and are generally small but strong, encompassing the area she’s in. She cannot control the rain, wind, thunder, or hail from a storm, but she can manipulate the naturally generated lightning if there is any.
[break][break]
Aria’s contract is a simple one. “You will remain here as long as you are needed, and bound to the one who I say needs you.” Only her current owner can transfer her contract to another person, and that person will have sole ownership over her and her contract until he breaks the contract.
