Paperwork, a pastime of his to say the lease. Lysander did deal with a lot of paperwork, but in a strange way enjoyed it more, then he did the meetings that normally followed. He was a smart man and did well in his line of work, but he found some around him to be fairly useless.[break][break] He almost hated them, they were weak, and they knew nothing of the jobs they had. Which meant he had extra work on his hands making sure that even those under him did their work correctly. He had no problem threatening them otherwise, and had his ways of getting away with it as well. [break][break] No one under him dare to challenge or defy him, they knew better. He was a man that was destined for power, and he would do everything to achieve it. Finally done with the largest pile of papers today Lysander found that it was time to take a break and looked up from his work to stare at the door that was across from his desk. [break][break] Any moment now and Cordelia should be back, with tea for him to drink and something for him to snack on. She was normally pretty good about her timing and he expected that she would be just as good today. He would wait and give her the time needed before he became angry, after all he was in a good mood today would would hate for it to be ruined by some djinn.

Cordelia truly, truly hated her existence here. To be reduced to bringing tea and biscuits to her master, it was shameful, simply degrading! And yet she had never defied his word, never tried to kill him because she simply hadn't the heart. He wasn't overtly cruel, just made her do the stupidest things. Gave her all the work he just couldn't be bothered to do. Why couldn't he just be happy with his other djinn, why summon her, why keep her.
It puzzled her, why he would bother teaching her all this stuff when another djinn could possibly have done it better than her.
But she supposed he had his reasons, and she wouldn't ask him. More like Cordelia was too scared of the consequences of asking him. Although he never laid a hand on her, never cast hurtful magic toward her, she knew that he could be cruel. She had only asked the other djinn, and her answer was clear.
Didn't stop her from back talking sometimes, when she simply couldn't handle his uppity ways. Oh, she hated it when he said he found it amusing when she talked back.
"Your tea, master. And some cookies to go along with it." He hadn't done anything to set her off, just yet, but she had this impending feeling about it.

There she was, his Djinn, well one of them, he had a fair number under his control, and tended to switch them out when bored. He had even released a few before getting new Djinn, to say that Lysander could get bored easily was an understatement. Maybe it was because Cordelia was so new to this that he found her some what entertaining, or maybe it was the fact that she wasn't broken like the others.[break][break]She has some moxy to her, and he found her to be like a breath of fresh air. She was still entertaining, and until she became not, she would continue to be his. She placed his tea on the desk, with am offering of cookies as well. He did not have the greatest sweet tooth but did enjoy the taste of sweets from time to time. He took a sip of the tea, it was warm, this was good, the cookies were good as well, not perfect but good.[break][break]"Good." He stayed quiet for a while, not saying anything to Cordelia, he made her wait. He continued this until the tea and cookies were done, then he finally finished and motioned his finger so that Cordelia would come towards him. [break][break]"Have the others at home been behaving?" He questioned her about the other Djinn he kept around, some had been left with chores to do. If they finished them in time then Lysander would allow them time to rest in the other place. He used their home and time away from him as a reward system.

She smiled at him. At least he said something good about the tea. She was still getting used to it, but four years was a fairly long time. She had hoped it would be good, seeing as this, amongst few other things, was all that she did these days. But baking, well... sometimes she still needed help. Sometimes she'd forget an ingredient, or bake them for too little, or too long, or make a mess in the kitchen.
She was getting annoyed at how long he was making her wait. And yet she didn't say a word, in the silence. The really suffocating and really tense silence.
"Yes, master. They've been doing fine as far as I can tell." She couldn't fight the slip of tongue, the change of tone when addressing him. It was sharp, when she said master. She'd probably get punished for that, grow weak as she would probably not be allowed another visit to the Other Place in a few days.
She cursed herself. "Forgive me, I did not mean it like that." A softer tone, and yet still hostile in her own little way.

Her tone, he could here it. In a way it felt like she was testing him, as if she was seeing how far in defiance she could get today. He did let it slide, just for the time being, he did have other things to worry about. It was good to hear that the others were doing as they were told, nice to know that he would be coming home to a clean house, clothes clean and dinner ready, speaking of dinner. [break][break]"I think I will get a few things done and then we will head home for the evening." He motioned to some of the paperwork laying on his desk, mostly to some that he was done with. "File these as you wait." [break][break]That was it, he wanted her to help him finish up his work, he also liked to make her work. He liked to see someone bent to his will, doing as he sad he would watch her as she worked, but at the same time finish his own work.

Nothing.
Cordelia was glad. She might be able to get away with some things today, maybe even do something outside of her contract. "Of course, master. It is as you say." She stared at the massive amounts of paperwork. To this day she couldn't believe that her master had so many things to do. Perhaps it was more or less why he summoned her.
As much as she hated him, Cordelia could not help but admire his tenacity and hard work, even if he was a bit of a pretentious ass. Still, she begrudgingly took the papers (she hated doing this above anything else), with attitude, making sure that he knew she hated it.
She filed the paperwork. She wanted to make sure that while she was under the control of her master, she still had the will of her own - she slammed the cabinets, doing every little thing to annoy him, now that she knew she could get away with it.

she was being annoying, but Lysander did have his ways of punishing her in ways that did not cause pain. He already had his plan and knew that this night would not end till Cordelia was forced to beg him to send her back to the other place. Then, and only then would he finally let her go, until he needed her again of course.[break][break] Lysander wrote up a few more notes and then put the rest of his work away in his desk. Before both knew it a few hours had passed since Cordelia had bought him the tea and cookies. Now it was starting to get late and it only made sense to call it a day. [break][break]He got up from his work desk and called to Cordelia, grabbing her attention. "I believe it is time we go, dinner should be ready in the next hour as well. Speaking of, you will be joining me for dinner." He stepped closer to her and with a smirk grabbed her hand and placed money in it, a fair about in fact.[break][break] "Listen carefully to your orders, you will not disobey me. You have an hour to shop, find something to wear for dinner, something that will please me. You will then come to the house and you will enjoy dinner with me tonight." He took off his jacket from the near bay rack and placed it over his shoulder. "I will be waiting.." [break][break]With that he gave her little chance to say anything in return, he left the office, off to go him, he was always the dressy type, and was known to have his djinn reflect his style. Although Cordelia could shift and change her clothes herself, he wanted to see if she could follow direction, plus, mattering on how she acted tonight, she might need the extra clothing.

Perhaps she had pushed a bit far. She could tell, he was annoyed, he was releasing the pheromone and she was a little bit scared. It was the aggressive one, and even she could tell that she was in deep trouble. It was at times like these she really wished to go back to the Other Place, to escape this all and never come back. But he always called her back. The worst part was the tension the pheromone created because she herself was affected by it.
She winced as he grabbed her hand, expected something, although she didn't know what. Lysander was never one to physically raise a hand to her, or almost any of his djinn. He had his exceptions, of course, but Cordelia never thought she would be subjected to it. Instead, money.
If he thought she needed money, he was sorely mistaken. And yet, as he talked, she got progressively more worried. Did he not know that she didn't need money to get new clothes? Still, she could not disobey her master's orders. "Yes, master. But I do not need to waste your money - oh."
He was gone, she no longer felt like a lost kitten, though she stared at the money in her hand. A needless waste of money, a needless waste of orders. But still, she did as he told, transporting herself to les grands boulevards and trying to find something that Lysander might like. She was awfully embarrassed, as she didn't really ever go out in public, and yet it was all she could do to find a classy black dress and shoes (which she had to find in an hour - an entire whole hour!) and pay the register before disappearing back to Lysander's house. Out of sight, of course, but she didn't doubt that most of the people there were magicians and djinn anyway.
She changed (damn human clothes were so difficult to put on), and with a sigh met Lysander for dinner. She knew the rest of the night would be focusing on the next part of her order - enjoying the dinner. Yet she knew how it was to be on the other side of the dinner making process, and couldn't help but feel bad for her fellow djinn, at the same time. "Master?"

He had his other Djinn working hard to prepare dinner, even more so when he told them that he would be having an extra guest. One of their fellow djinn, although no one said anything they all had and opinion on the matter, so much so that one of his djinn caught Cordelia at the door before she could make it to the dinning room. [break][break]"Hush child, let me get a look at you before the master does." She grabbed the younger Djinn and spun her around then she nodded. "Yes this will do nicely, now be on your best behavoir, oyu have the chance of making everything better for us. This is a test, treat the master good and he will accept you as his favorite, he does that and well, things will be better. [break][break]Please for us, please the master in any way that you can." The djinn then left in a hurry and went back to the kitchen, she needed to make sure that everything would be just perfect. Lysander was already standing at the table, waiting, once Cordelia finally walked in he checked his watch, she had made good timing. He pointed to her seat across from him. Although the table was a long fancy one, they were only using one side, and they would be sitting close, but across from each other.[break][break] Once she took a seat he did as well, then he finally spoke to her. "The meat will be out shortly, but as we wait would you like something to drink?" Another djinn, a male stood by ready to get her something, Lysander already had his glass of wine.

She was shushed before she could get the entire word out. A djinn, she knew, because her master did not come running, perhaps a silencing spell. But even so, she knew that the djinn was well meaning. A friend of her's, although much older, concerned for the beings of all the djinn in the household. And truth be told, Cordelia was glad to have someone else checking for her, at least up to this point. She had little fashion sense. She didn't even know if what she got was right.
But as soon as she said the words, Cordelia felt a weight on her shoulders. The struggles of her brethren under this evil, evil man were all on her. She could make it better, or worse. But she knew she needed to hear it. Although she felt burdened by it, she knew that it would get her through today. The djinn left, and she took a few deep breaths. She knew little of human dates, but from what she knew of human dates, this was like one, right?
Cordelia hated not knowing, and as she stepped into the dining room she took in it's grandiose appearance in two glances before focusing her eyes on Lysander. She managed the best smile she could - she knew it wasn't the best, but she'd get better as the evening went along.
He motioned for her to sit. She sat. Then her master asked her a question, and to her complete and utter mortification, she could not think of a drink. She didn't want wine, she remember the word wine. But what was that sweet substance called that she liked to drink? She could not, for the life of herself, remember what it was. Was this a test, too? Was he seeing if she was mature enough for wine? Was he gauging how proficient she was at remembering drinks? Suddenly, the whole night got a lot longer.
"I... I'll have a... a water, please, master." That had to be safe, right? She was beyond nervous, and the thought of her screwing up and making life hard for the other djinn was taking its toll on her.

She sat as he asked, but as he asked her for what she wanted to drink, he found her answer interesting. She had paused for what seemed like forever. Her answer was water, he found it odd that she wanted something so simple, when she knew that he could in a sense get her anything she wanted. Still he would leave her choice as is and motioned for the Djinn that was serving them to get the water that she asked for.
"you did well in picking an outfit for yourself. Before you ask, I do know that you can change your appearance at will, but knowing that you are wearing real clothes, makes you feel.. more human to me. Call it making your master feel more comfortable." It wasn't the best reasoning behind his choice of dressing her, but it was more of a show that he could, that he had the money, that he had the power.
In this world the best thing to have was control, and Lysander loved it so. Control of his djinn, over his life and over his job. Soon the water was placed before her and then the food was brought out as well, tonight they were having a grand meal. A well made grilled fish, with a side salad and a side of fresh fruit.
Lysander tended to eat well, and his meals were made great for his health and tasted just as good. "I hope you do not have a problem with the meal that I had planned for us."

It was lemonade. As soon as the words stumbled out of her lips, she remembered. How inopportune, how mortifying. Now she was going to be craving lemonade when all she had was some tasteless water. But at least water was water. At least it tasted of nothing, so it was neither good or bad. She couldn't imagine what it would be like if she blanked and said something disgusting like... like... something disgusting (Cordelia had not actually found a disgusting drink in the human world, not yet).
"Thank you master, I tried my best. I was confused, but I cannot disobey your orders." Well at least that little confusion was cleared up. It didn't explain... this whole spiel. She didn't understand the comfort thing, she didn't understand why he was letting her sit at the table like she wasn't a servant but a guest. Why he was making her have dinner with him was foreign, only the semblance of a punishment.
Cordelia was unsure what to make of this meal. When it came to human foods, they were odd. She did not need them, as the atmosphere was toxic and she could not replenish her strength with food. But it was oddly... well, it had taste, and she rather liked the idea of taste.
"It's wonderful, master." She was unsure if she actually thought it was wonderful, but she figured that it was the answer he was looking for, right? But she couldn't fight the urge to ask, despite the fact that her head was practically yelling at her not to ask, why she was here. What was his purpose? This seemed awfully generous for a punishment for slamming filing cabinet doors.
"I'm truly thankful for this meal, master, but may I ask why I am here? Not that I'm not enjoying it, I'm enjoying it very much." As if to prove a point, she ate a forkful of salad and smiled - probably not the best idea in hindsight.

Her actions were interesting to say the lease, with every question she seemed almost lost. This was unlike the Cordelia he had seen earlier, as if she had changed her persona in hopes of not getting in trouble. Still if she kept looking like a lost lamb then he was going to get annoyed by it.
He wanted her as the strong will woman that she was, and yet this was the best she could be. He was hoping for a good conversation, and yet all he got was false praises and questions. Still he was going to do his best to answer her questions, he still wanted to give her a chance. He was bored and needed entertainment in his life.
"Why you ask? Well why not? Why should I always eat alone? I work late and do not have time to gather late night company. Is it wrong for me to have you as my dinner partner?" He had answered her question with a question, and now he wanted to see how she would answer him.

And she could feel it. His pheromones were off the charts and she couldn't hide her anger. Even though he looked cool, collected, calm, she could feel the annoyance come off him in waves. What a piece of shit. What an asshole. And she was just starting to find him a bit more bearable, and then he goes and pulls this shit.
Fine, just fine. Sure, she felt sorry that she couldn't uphold her attempts to make things better for the djinn under Lysander. But they couldn't say that she didn't try. Now it was a lost cause, and soon she found herself getting quite angry at him. How dare he, after she try so hard to be polite to him! Sure, she was probably being horrible at it, but how could he make her feel so awful about it?
"Yes, it's wrong!" She shot up from the chair and couldn't hold back all her anger and annoyance and hurt. It was all packaged, rolled into three words. God, she felt like crying. "You could have picked any other djinn and yet it's me. I've tried so hard to be nice to you, but you're just an asshole through and through, just like I thought when you first summoned me four years ago!"
And that is precisely when she clamped her hands over her mouth to stop herself from saying anything more damning. She took deep breaths, trying to calm down but to no avail. He was going to do something bad to her, wasn't he? Goodbye, Other Place. She had a feeling that she wouldn't be seeing it for a very, very, very long time.
Despite herself she couldn't control her shaking, she fell back onto the chair to support herself. It was only then, a raspy whisper. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean, master please forgive me."
Wow, she sounded really pathetic. Maybe if she was really lucky, he'd dismiss her to the Other Place forever and she could go back to her happiness. She doubted it though. She could only look in horror what the future may possibly have in store for her. The prospects were not bright.

There she goes, blowing up at him s soon as he wouldn't answer her question with a solid answer. It was funny how she thought that this was all wrong because he had picked her, well if he was an asshole then it was only fair that he kept up the the act.
He pushed his chair back but did not get up from his chair, instead he motioned for her to come around the table to his side. He was quiet as he waited for her to come over. Even though she had blown up at him, she was quick to be sorry, that obedient side of hers kicking in just as quickly as it had left. He knew that for all her yelling and all her spite, she would never really betray him. She was loyal, whether she liked it or not. He pat his lap and spoke with a simple command.
"Sit." Yes this, this act would be her punishment, he would not strike her, he would not yell, he would only make her submit more to him. "You will feed me, since I am such an asshole I guess I will show you how much of one I can be. You will continue to serve me until I am satisfied, you will feed me, you will undress me for the night, and you will comfort me as I sleep."
She wanted this right? She painted him as such an evil man, if that was so, then he would be one. He even directed new orders to the Djinn that had been there for their drinks.
"You may go, all of you will take punishment on Cordelia's behave, outside with all of you, find somewhere in the yard or on the streets to sleep tonight, you are all banded from my house or the other place until morning, where I expect breakfast in bed." The djinn only obeyed, giving Cordelia one sad glace before leaving for the rest of the night, now everyone would know that this was her fault.
