The circus was certainly an elusive event. And Piper decided, after one of her early shifts, to visit. Problem was, she couldn't pay.
She could pay. She just didn't want to pay. Her hard-earned money was going to better things. Like living expenses. So was it so bad of her to want to sneak in and take a little peek? Just a quick one - no one would even know that she was there, and it would be harmless.
She went to the back. Exploring these streets had been her childhood, and she was able to, without much difficulty, map out a way to get to the backstage-ish area and then she's somehow...
Piper realized halfway that perhaps this wasn't the best idea, and in the middle of aborting mission (she really, really should've done this with some friends because she wasn't much of a confrontation person when in the face of serious trouble) she sort of, well. It kind of went like this.
There was a tent. And that tent went flop. And Piper just hoped no one was there as she inched away, staring at the now-deflated tent. But at least it wasn't the main circus event (she was probably doing this in the middle of a performance anyways).

between acts he retreated to his tent for a change of costumes. hair pulled free of its usual half ponytail, clothing strewn on the floor, he’d just finished rinsing off. a pair of boxers he pulled on, towel draped over his damp hair. there was still time to spare, no rush.
three steps from the antique chaise a shudder ran through the vibrant color nylon of his tent walls. in they went like dominos, folding in on him. no time to escape the fall.

she stared at the deflated mess in front of her.
piper was debating whether she should run really fast, or run really really fast. then she heard a sound. at first she thought it was her ears deceiving her, but there was a definite cry of pain. and it had come from the tent she had just about destroyed. a pang of guilt shot through her.
she really should have gone, but against her better judgement she tried to rescue what poor soul was in there, all while shouting apologies. "i'm sorry, i didn't mean to deflate your tent. i didn't think anyone was in there!" hands on tent material as she pulled it in attempts to get the person out.

in vain he fought against the fabric and poles trapping him. even the strength he gained from the change to strigoi couldn't move the weight atop him without destroying his precious tent. help from outside came with hurried apologies, and he was soon gasping fresh air.
"you should be more careful when you go around knocking down tents," he teases. a hand run his fingers through damp blue. "thanks for helping." a smile is flashed her way, full of white teeth and full, curled lips. "so do you always knock down tents or is this your first time?"
a towel is all he wears, now loose and slipping off his narrow waist. the curves of his adonis belt push against pale skin. as an after thought he tucks the towel tighter around his waist.

"I'm sorry, if I'd known I wouldn't have knocked over your tent in the first place." Stupid - that would imply that she actually was planning on knocking tents down. "No, no I didn't mean to knock down any tents. I've never knocked one down before..."
Should she cross that off the 'things to do before you die' list? Not that it was ever on it, but good experience, right?
Then Piper looked up and she saw a sight that would've made any girl blush. And maybe she did get red in the cheeks - a little bit, but it's not as though she hadn't seen the naked torso of a man before. It was more of the towel that she was concerned about. It was falling, and she couldn't help but stare - like a train wreck, it's horrible but just eyes just couldn't look away.
He tightened it, and maybe she looked mournful for a second before she looked back up at him. "I feel really bad about that. Are you sure you're alright?"

not a bruise or laceration mars his skin. what injuries sustained he’s already healed from with the strigoi blood pushing through his veins.
“just a little bruises, but no worse for wear. i’m fine.” he flashes a careful smile, showing little teeth and calculated warmth in spite. “don’t worry about it. it’s not every day someone collapses my tent. it makes for good conversation.”
with a little chuckle. "so, were you looking to sneak in or are you lying about not meaning to knock down some tents?”

caught so easily. and she thought she might've made a clean getaway. though, she didn't really get to see the circus anyways, so there was that. this was karma, it definitely was, for all the bad things she did in life.
"i already said i didn't mean it, and i apologized, what more do you want?" she didn't want to answer his question, even if he said it in a way that pretty much gave her only one option - to admit that she was sneaking in. but a criminal should never admit to her crimes, even if they were obvious.
"no, i was just... i just happened to find myself here. and then your tent fell. and then i saw this." she motioned toward the whole near-naked body thing. she tried not to stare, she really really did, but how in the world was he just so perfectly toned? "i can help you put the tent back up. i hope there wasn't anything valuable in there, it's probably broken now. but um, do you know how to put a tent up? i've never done it before."
she'd always asked someone else to do it when she was camping, not that she ever really did it ever.
