Jacob had somehow willingly found himself down in the catacombs, looking around and having meetings with those of the nobles that would speak with him. Most did not answer any of his questions, or just had nothing to help. The few that did speak with him did apologized that they knew of nothing of why the attack happened.[break][break] Still it was good to at least check, as a Magician more Strigoi at least pretended to be nice with him, even more so since he did have one of his Djinn out for protection. A fox like creature made of some weird blue mist, it was small enough to balance on his shoulder.[break][break] (cute like this) It just so happened that most of his djinn looked this cute, but looks could be deceiving, it was one of his more powerful djinn and even the strigoi could tell. [break][break]He finally made it to the last noble on his list that may speak with him, her name was lorelei, and was known by the council as being someone who really stayed away from the trouble of her people, still it did not hurt to ask. He knocked on the door and waited to see if there would be an answer.

As much as Lorelei did her best to stay out of the affairs of the strigoi, she was always aware of the whispering that occurred behind closed doors. And while the mysterious strigoi attack was no secret to anyone that mattered in the catacombs, she had heard some mutterings about the reason behind it as well as possible identities of the perpetrators. Even so, she didn't think it her business to report any of these things because they were strictly rumors. What would be the purpose of causing unnecessary chaos over something that could not be true?
If only she cared less about her kind to start trouble like that.
A knock on her door disturbed her thoughts, her brows furrowing slightly as she opened her door. Her face shifted to one of surprise when she saw a human, more specifically a magician, at her door. What in the world was a magician doing there of places and why in the world was he at her door?
"Well, this is certainly new. What a rare sight to see a magician in these parts," she mused, looking him and the odd looking creature at his feet over. "Should I assume you need something of me? I doubt you would come here at all unless you needed something from my kind."

Well at least she had opened the door, that was a step in the right direction. Jacob did do his best to be a gentlemen, he bowed his head and gave a sweet smile.
"Jacob Pierce, high minister, thank you for being so kind to answer your door, as you may be aware there have been some, disturbances up top. I would like to know if I may step in for a moment and ask you a few questions. Any help would be appreciated."
He was a magician yes, but he did his best to not flaunt his power. He was friends with a few Strigoi and wanted to keep his relationship with them friendly. He was already welcomed by some, but still not trusted by others. Still most, just by his name, knew him as the nice one from the council.
Still if miss Lorelei did decide to turn him away that would be fine, he was about done with his investigation for the day. Still he would like to leave the catacombs with something to work with.

Oh, so he was here about the strigoi attack. Well, that was certainly interesting. She was aware that there had been victims, but she didn't think it would garner the concern that it was getting. Certainly the magicians would find some way to cover it up, right? The regular surface folk didn't know anything about what lived in the catacombs from what she knew and the magicians did well to keep that information from them. But perhaps the attack had been more severe than she originally thought.
She almost felt bad for the innocents that had suffered.
Lorelei stepped away from the entrance, allowing him space to come inside and waving him in. If all he wanted was to question her, it wouldn't be so bad. She would just say what she knew and be on her merry way with ignoring the rest of her kind again. "Should I assume there are other magicians wandering around down here asking for answers or just you? I doubt any of you will have any luck unless someone manages to catch one of the rogues that attacked those humans."
She quickly turned on her heel, walking towards a couch and sitting on it. Gesturing her hand to the empty spot next to her, she quirked her head to the side as her eyes followed him. "So, what is it you wanted to ask? If it's answers you're looking for, I'm perhaps just as in the dark about the attack as you are."

He followed her wave and moved inside the house, he was happy to see that she was willing to give him the time. Even if she did not have anything to add, at least he had tried, he wanted to find answers but did have a feelnig that they were not going to show up on the first day. Jacob followed her inside and found it interesting that she would ask if he was the only one asking questions, since it was a simple enough question she did decide the answer it.
"Just I for now, I wanted to see what I could gather as quickly as possible, also because most of my.. colleague are not as welcomed here as I am." It was the nicest way for him to say that, my coworkers are assholes and I'm the only nice one. He kind of felt bad that the people he worked with could be so disliked, he had a way of liking all of them, even if some were a bit... more extreme then the others.
Still he did not mind that he was the only one going round asking questions, he knew that the others would be doing their own thing, from cover ups to information gathering. Everyone had their part to play and he was just doing his best. He took the seat that was offered to him, no fear of the Strigoi next to him, even his Djinn was relaxed, yawning and jumping off his shoulder so that it could lay on the arm of the couch.
"Sadly that is why I am here, I have just been asking around to see if anyone had heard or seen anything. Even if you haven't it was still kind of you to take the time to see me. So I am assuming that you have nothing to add to what rumors I have probably already heard?"

Just hearing him talk and seeing how polite he was made her think he was… just a bit too odd. He was definitely different from the very few magicians she had the (dis)pleasure to encounter for one reason or another. They had all been rude and uppity (which infuriated her to no end quite honestly), and she absolutely refused to be polite to them. Pleasantries were only meant for those she vaguely cared for.
But she supposed this overly nice human could be an exception though.
"You're a strange one. You're far more polite than the others have been. More sincere than them too," she hummed calmly, peering at him with curiosity. "What's wrong with you?" She hadn't meant for it to sound as blunt or mean as it did, but the curious side of her wanted to know why he was so nice. Nearly all humans, magicians and commoners alike, typically acted as if they were better than them. So this was just a strange thing to her.
"Hmm… I'm assuming that by rumors you're talking about how there's been whispers about the attack being caused by rogue strigoi, right? Really, that's all I've heard. Although, I have also heard rumors stating potential names of the ones who attacked. You'd have to ask the non-nobles about it. They're the ones whispering the most about it, so I can only assume they have more information than I would."
She tucked her hair behind her ear, humming quietly to herself as she pondered over if she had left anything out. That was all she knew. Or at least, that's all she thought she knew. "Was the damage done at the surface worse than what we've been told? I've heard that there were a few victims, but they never stated how many. I'm sure your government is doing the best to cover it all up."

A first Lorelei had started as a compliment, but it quickly moved to an insult. One that even Jacob's djinn found wrong, the small creature mewed at Lorelei to share its displeasure. Still Jacob was going to take the comment with a grain of salt, he was going to answer her question as best as he could. Still he found it odd that she would ask such a question. Was it really so wrong for him to be kind? He understood that some Magicians were hard to deal with, but was it really that bad?
"Nothing that I know of, I just follow my own rules, there is no point in being rule with anyone, or holding any hid of hate in your heart. Everyone has the right to be treated fairly and equally." Why should Jacob act any better then a strigoi, what was the point in that? They were just as powerful, even more so since Strigoi relied on their own power, while Magicians needed Djinn to do anything.
He did nod as her assumption, she was right about the rumors and it also meant that this was just as much as a dead end as the others. Still the moral of this story was that no matter the odds you have to at least try, and then try again. Jacob was not about to give up, but he did need to start looking at this in a different light.
"A fair about were killed, and the panic was fairly big, my government are doing as best as thy can, but there is the chance that someone with information on what they saw or worse is floating around the commoners as we speak. The best that I can do is talk with those that will speak with me, and get what I can out of the situation."

Oh, he was a precious one. It was... sweet that he held such beliefs in a world that was more cruel than he probably even realized. Especially down here where the rules were different and human lives were more than expendable according to the grand majority of her kind. Mostly, they were considered food or toys. Still, she would allow him to hold onto these ideals while he still had them.
Perhaps the world above would be a little better with people like him around.
"I see. You're probably the sort that believes that humans were born inherently good, right?" Lorelei said with more derision than intended, sighing a bit at her own incompetence for not being able to speak to the magician in a more respectable manner. He at least deserved to be spoken to as a knowledgeable being. "Pardon me for that. I'm still used to the dismissive behavior of your colleagues, so I'm reacting as if you're talking to me in that manner. I... apologize."
Eh, did he really need an explanation of her behavior? Probably not, but Lorelei figured perhaps he deserved one. He was being nice to her, after all. Surely she could show him some kindness as well, right?
"That's unfortunate to hear. Hopefully they didn't suffer too much. Strigoi can be cruel and merciless, so a quick death would've been a blessing to those that were killed." She took a moment to stare at the odd little creature that had previously mewed at her, collecting her thoughts as she did so. "It would perhaps be best to search for this information in a group, wouldn't it? Things would be done quicker and more efficiently. Although... I'm sure that whoever was behind the attack wouldn't have wanted to leave behind any witnesses. There's a chance that those that knew anything are now dead as well. But then again, they may have been to desperate to leave before anyone came for them to get rid of such people."
Lorelei stood up then, about ready to walk towards the table across the room when she ended up crumbling to the floor and groaned in pain. Oh, perhaps she should've gone to feed. It had been... quite a while after all. As disgusting as it was to her, she knew she needed it just as much as the rest of her kind, so she only had herself to blame for how weak she felt right in that moment.

"A bit yes, I don't see anything wrong with the thought that we could all be good and kind if we just tried." Jacob knew that the world was going to hell, he knew that there was more hate and evil then there was anything else. Still he had to try, it was in his nature to at least try and make a world a better place, at least a little. He would always try his best to do good for the people, and help anyone else he could on the way.
He did not mind the way that she spoke with him since he understood where she was coming from. Jacob found himself dealing with his coworkers on a daily basics, finding that they did have a way of speaking down others. Jacob did his best to speak with everyone on equal terms, it seemed to work well in getting into most people's good side. Not that he worried about upsetting anyone, he just wanted to be himself at all times.
"No no, it is perfectly fine I completely understand where you are coming from. You are right, I guess it was asking too much to think that I would find anything out on my own. I just did not want to continue without at least trying."
Even if Jacob was destined to fail, he would still always try his best, regardless of the chanced outcome. She was right though, if there was any answers to what was going on there was a chance that they were already being covered. Still Jacob was happy to try and stood up from the chair, he was ready to make his leave, that was until Lorelei became weak before him. He did not even second guess his movements as he rushed over and grabbed her arm hoping to help her up. "Are you ok? Is there something I can do?"
His djinn was relaxed for the moment, but it's ears did perk up as it watched the scene before it, not so sure on what was going on. Jacob had no fear of Lorelei so of course he was quick to help her, just as he would help anyone else.

Currently, everything in Lorelei's body was burning and aching. She could feel the desire for blood quickly rising in her and she couldn't think of a way to help herself get out of this predicament. She was too weak to get up on her own, and even if she wasn't, everything hurt far too much that it was maddening.
If only blood wasn't so revolting.
When the magician grabbed her arm, she groaned in order to mask the need to cry out in pain. That hurt a little bit too much for her liking. Oh, but he was doing this to help her and she was thankful for that. The only problem was that he was human and she was absolutely ravenous with hunger, so when she looked up at him, she had to fight back the urge to just attack him. No, she couldn't attack him. She had more self-restraint than that.
But her body was saying otherwise right now. Blood was more than necessary.
Standing up with renewed strength, she quickly reached for his face. She leaned in close, her breath fanning over his lips from how close she got to him while her hands trailed down from the sides of his face to along his arms. Oh, she nearly shivered from just how much she anticipated the feeling of blood filling her mouth. It would normally sicken her on most days, but on days like these where she was desperate and practically delirious from hunger, it sounded like the sweetest thing in the world.
Lorelei pulled her head back a bit, moving to nuzzle his neck a few times while her fingers trailed over his shoulders. Oh, she could just imagine how delicious the rush of blood was going to be. Without any hesitation, she tightened her grip on his shoulders and bit down on his neck, blood filling her mouth. She selfishly drank from him, not caring for that particular moment that he was a magician and this would certainly cause trouble in the long run.

Jacob had not been expecting such a reaction, even more so since this was the first time he had ever been in the way of such blood lust. Jacob still did not move away right away, since all he wanted to do was help her. As she looked at him, as she got close his body could do nothing but freeze up on him, and even his djinn found itself feeling confused to the situation. He could feel a blush rise in his cheeks as her lips got so close to his, her breath mixed with his.
He still did not make a move, not even when she came to pressing herself to his neck, not even when he felt her fangs dig into his skin. As his skin broke and blood was drawn only then did Jacob mind finally snapped back to reality. By the time he snapped back lorelei should have gotten a very good fill. In haste Jacob pushed her off of him, he tried not to be too rough, but this was just not acceptable.
Even his little djinn jumped up in his defence and started to spray water all over Lorelei, hosing her down. Only when Jacob grabbed the small djinn and hushed it did it stop its attack. He tossed his little friend to the side then started to apologize.
“I am so sorry, i mean he was only trying to protect me, you did startle me, I mean..” Jacob was really at a lost for words, but when he saw Lorelei standing there dripping in water, he couldn’t help but snicker, just a little.

If there was ever a time Lorelei had been too far gone, it was certainly in this moment. She was too hungry, too voracious to just pull away from him like her brain was telling her too. Oh, she was certainly going to have to apologize for this, but for right now, she relished the taste of his blood and just how full she felt because of it.
Even if it did taste a little bit odd.
Before she could even finish though, he pulled away from her. And almost immediately, she was being doused with water. Well, that certainly brought her back to her senses. Now she was cold, wet, and a hell of a lot more awake. Still, she couldn't help but stare at the little creature that had showered her in water. As much as she hated to admit it, the noble had to thank it. There was no telling what she would've done if she had gone any further.
Hearing him chuckle, she looked up at him with her eyebrows slightly furrowed. Was he... laughing at her? "Ah, there is no need for you to apologize at all. It... was my own fault, truly. As you said, it was trying to protect you. I did attack you after all."
She took a step closer to the magician as she tried to look at his neck, keeping her distance away from him in case the urge to drink sprang up again. Ugh, disgusting. "I didn't hurt you too badly, did I? I really didn't mean to. It was because I haven't fed in a long while. Although, it certainly isn't an excuse to attack you, but I'd like for you to know that you hadn't provoked it."
Suddenly, a thought she had previously struck her. "Hm... Are you perhaps... sick or something? Your blood tastes rather odd."

He still felt bad about the way that his djinn acted, even if it was justified. He also could not help the chuckle at the soaked Lorelei and hoped that she would not get angry with him.
"Still I am sorry, you seem like someone that would never do something like that without good reason, I will ignore it. You looked very weak, are you sure that you will be fine? Should we call on a livestock or a glass of blood for you?"
Although she had just gotten a meal out of him, with the way she was acting Jacob was convinced that his blood would not be enough for her. Even more so he now only worried about her well-being, it was not good to drive yourself to blind hunger. Simply he was not worried about the bite, in fact it wasn't like there were any rules against feeding on a magician, not if they allowed it.
As Jacob had said he would let it slide, he was not one to get anyone else in trouble so quickly. Jacob made sure to tell the djinn that everything was going to be fine, which the little creature took as a promise. "No no, I am fine, it doesn't hurt, I just want to make sure that you will be fine? Is there something I can do for you?"
Suddenly Jacob took a step back feeling very uncomfortable to her question, how could tell? Was it really showing up so strongly in his blood now? This was new, it used to be hidden so well, he would need to summon his healing djinn later for sure. For now he would ignore her question and change the subject.
"Never mind me, like I said, lets worry about you, is there someone I can go get for you? Maybe a new change of clothes? A warm fire?" He was going to stay away from that question for as long as he could allow it.

If Lorelei thought the magician was strange before, she most definitely thought he was the strangest thing she had ever come across now. She had just attacked the poor man and drank from him, but here he was, apologizing to her and worrying about her needs. It was supposed to be the other way around, not like this. It was perfectly understandable for the creature to have attacked her in retaliation, so to have him apologize and worry over her was just... It was just way too much and she couldn't help but be befuddled.
Although, she decided she liked hearing him laugh. It was a charming sort of sound.
"Oh, I am nothing to worry about. I hardly mind being wet or cold," she shrugged, noticing the fact that he was avoiding her question. Well, now she wanted to know why he would do such a thing. It's not as if she had asked anything bad, so why would he avoid it? "So going back to you, is something wrong with you? Are you ill? And don't try to change the subject again. Don't you dare try to lie to me either."
As if to threaten him, she crossed her arms over her chest and pouted. "Or else I'll have to find a way to punish you for it."

She didn't need anything really? All Jacob wanted to do was fix what his djinn had done, and yet she was making this so hard for him. Why? All he wanted to do was be nice, and stay far far away from talking about his health. How could she tell? Was it really the blood that told her, and if so why was she asking? All Jacob wanted to do was ask her to leave it alone, and yet he did not know how, or better yet did not want to be mean. He shook his head and turn away from her, he couldn't even look into her eyes.
"I appreciate your concern but I promise I will be just fine." He had a bad feeling that she was not going to drop it but he really hoped she did. He turned to look at her again, a face full of pain and sadness once again, then he smiled again. "I doubt you can, or would punish me. Really, what would you even do to punish a high minister." He hate to pull rank, but was out of ideas. He needed to at least try, even if he did not know what he was rally saying or doing.
