Evening creeps across the Seine and along the Parisian boulevards.
The grand boulevards that once housed hundreds of thousands of people emptied out bit by bit as people fled for their homes and dead-bolted their doors in fear of what went bump in the night. There were plenty of reasons to be afraid these days. Or so she's come to learn that there is a reason for fear and hiding here.
How utterly tragic it was to see the skirts of the once-famed city of love had been turned to rubble and ash.
How utterly tragic it was to see that passion and ambition had turned to apathy and dejection.
A woman of her caliber had never been meant to walk these streets alone at this hour, but she supposes there is little to be done about someone who is not wholly human nor wholly belonging to the other side. Lace is bound tightly about her eyes and her hands are tightly secured about a deck of cards.
Evening has swallowed the city of Paris whole and as stars make their appearance in the night sky, she parts pale peach. "Do you wish to know your fortune?"
She is ethereal, a deity of her own creation.

not unusual is his roaming the streets at this late hour. when wilmer sleeps, and he is restless, he partakes in night air and the quiet of starlit boulevards.
so quiet it becomes at night, where the myriad parisians retreat indoors. monster lurk beyond the wall, and how rare for them to get through, yet the fear is strong and more than enough to empty the city with the setting sun. few places exist where activity continues, and he avoids them.
corbett thinks himself alone ob the boulevard. no sign of movement or sound has lulled him. her voice, abrupt and airy, gives him a fright.
"what did you say?"

A predatory smile.
She had foreseen this. A confused little bird that knew nothing of the power that lurked in his veins, though; she wonders as to what such strength had derived. Perhaps it was innate or perhaps it was a gift that had been given with the intention of its receiver not having any return to salvation. Or, perhaps, it was just an old biddy’s whimsy that told her that he was far from what you could call normal.
He smells of curiosity. Lavender, vanilla, and fresh lacquer on a newly refurbished, mahogany table. A pleasant aroma, mostly, with the intention of masking an otherwise hideous stench. Curious little bird, he was.
“Do you wish to know your fortune?” She repeats without a hitch, her tarot cards at hand and stretched out in a wave for the other.
