The magician wanted this djinn gone. It would be so simple to dismiss her, but why not cause a stir, why not use her to his benefit. He had taught her for a year about the world around her, except for a few finite details, like the creatures that lived underground. 'I want you to follow this map that I've made you. You must interact with at least one person, and stay for three days and three nights. Return to me when you're finished'. It had been a direct order and with the little hand drawn map, Aria blindly went. The outer ring was no more beautiful than when she had first left it, but in a broken building she found what she was looking for. Moss had grown over the rotting wood of the fallen down house, and she hadn't seen anyone near it.
She had gotten several looks, some whispers, but no one had approached her. The flaming red hair and red eyes must have scared them. Her magician's other djinn had said she looked scary several times, so she assumed it must have been true. As she searched through the remains of what looked to be a counter, she found it - a green painted square in the floor. The paint was chipped and the wood smelled soggy to her nose, but the compartment door opened when she pulled on the handle and opened up to a dark opening. There was a bit of an air current and she curiously looked down. It was dark, but that was alright - her master had given her some matches, and she always had her own powers to help her. Aria climbed down the hole and into the darkness.
"Hello~?" Her voice rang out and then echoed as her feet touched cold, slick brick. She shivered a little at the sudden drop in temperature. Why would anyone be down here? It was dark to her eyes, so Aria lit one of the matches. The area around her was hopelessly dusty, cobwebs and spiderwebs cluttered in far corners. The path in front of her, however... well, it wasn't as dusty. Maybe there had been traffic through here? Aria started walking, calling out the occasional 'hello?' to the air around her, and relighting a new match every minute for light.

All he was doing was making his rounds, checking to make sure that everything was as it should. He was head of the guard and with that job he had many things to worry about. He was not only in charge of the safety of his people, but also needed to make sure that they did not cause any trouble. He was already worried that the balance between the Magicians and Strigoi was weakening, he did not need any of those he protected to go and make things worse. He moved slowly along the different paths of the catacombs.
He had every wall, every turn memorized. He did not even need to see to know where he was going, but being a strigoi and living here for so long, the dim lights did nothing to bother him. He was used to it, and could see clearly. He did carry a lantern for some of the darker areas and did have to turn it on at one point.
This area was not as safe as one would thing, it was far from the main area, and this was where runaway livestock and bloodthirsty lowly strigoi could be found. He continued on his path, not finding anything out of place, until he heard a voice. He followed the voice until he found a woman, he at first thought that she was a runaway livestock, until he got closer.
He could feel it, a djinn, he could just tell, just as he could tell a regular human to a magician. Still what was a djinn doing way down here? "Djinn, what are you doing here, you are a long way from home, and should turn back now." Not that any strigoi would do much to a djinn, the fact that one was here would make the Strigoi distrust the magicians even more.

Aria nearly jumped out of her skin when she heard the voice. She turned quickly, lit match in hand, to face the owner of the voice. She saw the pretty blond hair first, along with the serious expression of a man much taller than her. "Oh!" How perfect! She had found someone in less than five minutes! Surely her master would be pleased with her now. The match slowly burned away in her fingers. "Hello there! I am named Aria." She was still a little clumsy with introductions, but her voice was clear French, and her accenting was good, in her opinion. "I have been sent by my master to live here for th--Ow!" The match in her fingertips had gone down to her fingers and she dropped the match, putting her finger in her mouth.
Aria paused for a brief moment before pulling her thumb from her mouth. "For three days. I am to find new people to communicate and practice with, because my master says that my people skills are lacking." Now it was dark and she couldn't really see, so she lit another match, unaffected by the fact that her match count had started to severely dwindle. "Technically he said I only had to find a person, so you will do! I am to interact with you for three days and three nights." She wandered closer, lifting the match so she could see better in the suffocatingly dark tunnel.
"But why are you down here? Did you upset someone and get sent down the hole for punishment too?" Her tone was chipper, entirely too optimistic, but incredibly curious as she looked at him. This time she dropped the match when it got towards her fingers and lit another. Curiously she picked up two matches and bundled them together, which made them brighter and she could see better - but also left her with fewer matches.

Aria? Friendly enough wasn't she? For a djinn Marcellus found her to be pretty odd. He had been wondering what a djinn could be doing down here, but she had offered the information so willingly. Soon he could figure out what was going on. She was a fairly loyal djinn, doing as she was told, even if it was something stupid. There was no reason for a djinn to be down here, even more so since djinn were Magician pets, and Strigoi were not so friendly with Magicians to begin with.
Still he could tell that this djinn was being honest enough and found it funny that she didn't even know what he was. She was given and order that would have gotten her killed, if it wasn't for the fact that Marcellus had been the one for her to run into. He was not so sure how to approach the situation, but knew that he needed to keep an eye on this one.
Even if she was little trouble without her magician, he still needed to keep tabs on her. Still he found it sad that she was only equipped with some matches. He pulled up the lantern that was looped to his hip next to his sword. It was dimly lit at the moment but with the turn of a small rounded switch the light intensified so that the Djinn would no longer need to use up all her matches.
He then entended his arm and handed over the lantern. "hold this, at least you will not be burning yourself anymore." Now that one problem was taken care of, he needed to address the others.
"So as a djinn you are doing as you are told, but has your magician explained why you should come here, other then to spend three nights. Are you to learn something? Also aside from that did he explain what kind of people live here?" If she would not go away, and she was not going to follow him around, things were going to get troublesome quickly.

It seemed that all he knew how to do was stare. Maybe she looked strange? Aria wasn't completely sure about it, honestly, it was so hard to see with the matches. However his kindness won out and this stranger extended the lantern to her. "Ooh!" A new item! She had seen lanterns hanging on walls, but Paris had electricity. She took the lantern carefully from him and inspected it. When the light turned brighter, her eyes dilated and she looked around to see everything she could see. Dank hallways, cobblestone, uneven flooring, cobwebs, and the tall blond haired man in front of him. Aria watched him with red eyes, blinking a few times as she got readjusted to the light.
"How did you know I was a djinn and not a human? Was it the clothes?" She looked down at herself where she wore light and airy clothes, better suited for hot summers or Halloween honestly than civilian clothes. He quickly started asking her new questions and she paused, watching him intently and memorizing each question. She might have been naive, but Aria picked things up like a sponge, and she was smart. She memorized things easily, and long lines of questions were processed with her answers quickly lined up in her mind, so the questioner didn't have to repeat themself (because her master had told her no one liked repeating themselves).
"My master didn't explain anything. He drew me a map," she fished the old napkin out of her belt and handed it to Marcellus. "--and told me I had to spend the nights here. I think I'm being punished, because he was upset with me when he sent me, and told me that he wanted me to stay down here. I don't know what he wants me to learn." As for his last question, Aria lifted a red eyebrow at him. "He told me outcasts live here, which I told him wasn't very nice to say, but that just made him mad too." She started wandering a little, moving about the inside of the curved arches and lifted the lantern to look at different things. "What sort of people live down here? It's awful dark, and damp, and cold." She rubbed one arm as she wandered back to Marcellus. "You know there's lots of buildings not in use up there, right? Surely there's not so many people down here that you couldn't find a home up there."

"Although the clothing is a bit out of place for the humans, it was not the reason why I thought you were djinn. I can sense djinn, so I knew right away. Not that it matters so much, we don't mind djinn as much as we mind the masters of djinn." At least he was being honest. The strigoi did not take kindly to the magicians or really it was a matter of who you spoke to. The turned humans tended to have more of a problem then the rest, well the ones that started out as livestock either way. Marcellus did not have a problem per-say, he just liked to keep his distance. He hardly trusted anyone to begin with, and only Myron and a few of his guards really held any of his complete faith.
He had not meant to hit her with so many questions, and at first he had thought that he had confused her with all of it. That was until she started to answer him, in an impressive row. First of all, who in their right mind thought that sending their djinn down here was a good idea, let alone with a drawn map. To does this was a punishment was also very strange, it was like the magician had no need for this djinn, but couldn't bare to just send it away either. Still she would not last on her own down here, but for her to imprint on him was even worse. Trapped with the first person you see? Really? Marcellus found that rule to be stupid and unfair but knew that most djinns were compelled to follow their magician's orders.
"Maybe that is something you should learn on your own just understand that we are different from humans, not allowed to live among them. Not yet." Marcellus was sure with Myron as king that there would be a change at some point, but for now they would continue to wait. Still he was not sure what he should do with this Djinn, it wasn't like he could just leave her own her own. The worse thing he could do was allow her to get into trouble down here.
"Well for now you can follow me, but you should understand. I am head of the guard here, so listen well to any rules I give you. Be respectful to anyone we may run into. For now I will take you to my home. I am done with patrol for now. I'll answer any questions you have when we are indoors." He waved for her to follow him. The walk was long if you got lost, so he made sure to move slow, so that she would keep up. The catacombs were their home, and they found ways to make homes within the stone. A lot was changed from what the place looked before the rift.

Now what in the world did he mean that 'we' didn't mind djinn so much, but 'we' didn't like magicians? Aria followed after him now, entirely too curious for her own good. "Why don't you like Magicians? And who is 'we'?" She started following after him, her footsteps light as she bounced along behind him. The bells and coins on her outfit jingled as she stayed in the sphere of light that his lantern was giving off.
He said that she would learn on her own why they were different than humans. She started to look him up and down and took a step back to look at him from behind as they walked, and then circled over to his other side. She took two bigger steps ahead of him so she could look back and examine his front. Her quick examination told her that yes, he looked human. He looked like a magician could, or another human, or a djinn (although she knew for a fact he wasn't magical like a djinn was). She wanted to ask if he had something like a tail that set him apart from others, but she wasn't sure just yet. Would that be rude to ask? He had told her that she could ask her questions once they were inside, so she nodded and laced her hands behind her back as she walked, falling back into step beside him.
There was a lot of stone, a lot of chilly cold air, and the smell of dampness permeated her nose. She didn't particularly like it, but this wasn't her home, and it would be rude to say such things. "After three days, will you take me back to the exit so I can go home?"
(Just realized, Djinn gotta eat... this is gonna be funny.)
