the crumpled bit of scrap paper with the restaurant's address scrawled on it peeks out underneath his shiny, white plate.
when the waitress comes over with the carafe and the bread, he watches until she leaves so he can pick up a piece of sliced baguette, picking it apart and nibbling on it. most of it ends up as crumbs, big lumps, small flecks, adorning his plate, decorating his cookery.
he spends the rest of his time admiring the clutters of grey clouds in the sky and waving off a waiter who asks about wine and ordering food.

He walks over to the table and takes a seat, letting out a soft breath as he pushes his long, white hair over his shoulders.
"Hello," he states as he reaches for a piece of bread, or what's left of it, and frowns as he puts a bit of creamy butter on it. "Have you ordered yet?"
