A child's laughter; joyous and pleasant, high as the eager twitter of birdsong and as vibrant as oncoming spring in the flower beds. Kotus watched, intrigue glimmering behind the guise of darkness in his eyes; he had never expected a child, a true legendary talent, to summon him so very early in their life. And he watched through life, until the fire in the boy's heart flickered out too young before his eyes; with a weakened essence and pleading gaze, saw the boy fall, and felt himself tugged into oneness too soon following. [break][break]
The boy was neither his first nor last, and though he had risen beginning in Greece and hailed as Hades, God and Ruler of the Underworld, the child did not shy away from his form. And while centuries pass by from these moments, these memories stay like old, worn photographs, almost forgotten and curling at the edges, lined with blurry dust but still there. He's tried to close this album, yet he supposes it's time he ought to give up. [break][break]
Many have attempted to bring him back, to awaken the “Ruler of the Dead,” though none have quite managed to earn his loyalty, even when he offers it so crisp and fresh on a silver platter. He has his own scale, of what is right and what is wrong, and though he cannot say he has not ripped a soul from its body in death he can promise to be under no suspicion; he was not revered as a God of great cunning for being unintelligent. And although the years of guarding himself have stripped him of his ability to be open and vulnerable, he is not cruel nor without reason in his ways; is still capable of emotion. He thinks it is better this way; to care and to be kind are two traits which near-ensure a life saved, a life prospered. [break][break]
To him, serving his purpose to those worthy of his service is something he cannot say he dislikes doing. [break][break]

Kotus' powers focus on the mind, and having nearly seven thousand years of practice does no harm. Capable of taking control of the strongest willed mortal, Strigoi, and even other Djinn is an ability he boasts, though rarely resorts to; minds cannot be played with like toys without consequences, after all. Stretched too far, his grasp grows weaker, and it takes more effort to keep his hold. He can also sense all degrees of pain but cannot detect positive feelings unless they are particularly powerful. [break][break]
In the olden days, when he was known as Hades, for his other form he would often be found in a mimic of Cerberus, Hades' legendary three-headed beast. Now, however, apart from his main, human-like form, he can also be seen as either a crow (his most preferred form after his main one), a dark cobra, or a black panther (least common). [break][break]
Kotus currently serves no magician, and has been without summons for two years now; presently, he is in the Other Place, with no individual self or thought, waiting for the next master who will try to take him on.
